When you have a baby, one of the most important items on your shopping list will be a car seat. Not only is it illegal to transport your young one without a suitable and approved carrier, but from a safety perspective it will help protect your child in the event of an accident.
The combi car seat is a natural choice, because not only does it offer your child a very good level of safety, but is also a more cost efficient way of buying a travel system. The combi system doubles up as both a car seat and a baby carrier.

Some come with a base which you fix into your car - the base remains there, either fixed with the rear seat belt or, if your car has the option, an
ISOFIX system. The 'carrier' part will then simply click in to this base when you wish to drive somewhere with your baby.

Another type is the basic carrier which clips directly into your rear seats, or you pass the seat belt through the necessary points on the carrier. Through personal experience, I can say that these can be very fiddly, and more so when you have the usual 101 things to carry with you that come with having a baby!

Combi is a large baby product company, based in Japan, and has been established since 1954. There are a multitude of other manufacturers on the market though.

I would advise buying your seat online, because you will definitely get the best price. However, you need to ensure that the carrier system you get will fit your specific car properly. Cars vary hugely in seat belt configurations (seriously!) so best thing to do is pop along to a local dealer and ask an assistant for advice on the best one for your car. Make sure you also try and test it in your car to be absolutely certain.
